Is my hair long enough for hair extensions? Is my hair too thin? I have so many colours in my hair, will you be able to find the right match for my hair? These are just few questions clients ask Boni Hair Extensions every day. Lets have a quick look on how we determine if your natural hair is suitable for hair extensions.

Firstly we look at your natural hair as well as ask what hair style you would like to achieve with hair extensions. The ultimate goal is to have hair extensions that DO NOT look like extensions. Your hair must be healthy - not damaged with colouring or heated styling tools such as straightening. To find most suitable fitting method for your hair we carry out a consultation where we ask few questions about your health and lifestyle:
  • Do you take any medication which affect your hair growth
  • Do you exercise daily
  • Do you use sauna & steam rooms
  • Do you swim regularly
  • Do you wear protective head gear such as riding hats or helmets
  • Have you ever suffered from alopecia or any type of hair loss
  • Have you ever has chemotherapy treatment
  • Do you suffer from greasy hair
  • Are you pregnant or given birth in last 6 months

You may think what do these questions got to do with price of cheese? :D Let me explain few of these  - If you are taking medication or suffer from an illness which affects your hair growth or maybe causing natural hair to fall out more than usual, hair extensions may not be suitable. The same applies if you recently given birth to a baby as hormones rapidly change back to normal, it often cause hair loss in new mums. This is why we recommend waiting 6 months before deciding on getting hair extensions.

If you love exercising, saunas and steam rooms there is certain fitting methods that would not be suitable for your life style. These include Tape-In or Injection Tape hair extensions. But don't worry, we have plenty other hair extensions to offer which are easy to manage even if you exercise daily! In this case I would advise to go with either Hollywood Weave, Ultra Tip or Mini Tip hair extensions.

To determine which one of the following would suit your hair the most - we look at the thickness and length of your natural hair. Hollywood weave is suitable for all hair types. This versatile fitting method allows us to use different thickness of weave to suit each individual client. If your hair is fine texture we would recommend to use Ultra Tip hair extensions and for medium thickness and above Mini Tip Hair Extensions are great for those who prefer individual strand hair extensions. All of these are completely reusable so after three months you don't need to throw your hair extensions away like it used to be, we can remove it and reapply back to the root just like brand new set.

Now lets have a look at the length -
  • If your hair is short, let's say you are trying to grow out short hair cut - we may be able to add some hair extensions at the sides to create long Bob hair style.
  • If your natural hair is around shoulder lengths we may be able to add lengths to reach your shoulder-blades
  • If you hair is past your shoulders we will be able to add hair extensions  past your bra strap or longer. Ultimately the longer your natural hair is the longer extensions you may be able to have.
Once we have determined which fitting method is most suitable your hair and lifestyle we colour match your natural hair to extensions. We have a large range of shades available. These include basic one tone colours, mixed colours such as darker tones with highlights, balayage and ombre!

Hope this little blog helped to answer some of your questions. If there is anything you would like to know  please comment below or email us. Thank you.
